Township
Of Schaumburg

|
Vote Tuesday, April 7
What has the Schaumburg Township Team Accomplished?
-
Schaumburg Township was one of the first, if not the first, Township in Illinois to adopt ethics and anti-nepotism ordinances, long before Illinois governmental agencies were required to have them.
-
In trying economic times, Schaumburg Township received an Excellence in Fiscal Reporting Award. Refinancing a township bond several years ago saved considerable interest. The Township’s bond rating has been raised because of the excellent condition of its finances, while many other agencies struggle to maintain their bond ratings.
-
The Township has been recognized for effective communication through the Town Crier, excellence in Senior Citizen programming, and for educational programs attended by Township officials.
-
Schaumburg Township initiated and received TRIP program grant funds from the State of Illinois, enabling Senior and Disabled citizens to cross Township boundaries to reach needed healthcare services. As the Senior population has grown, the Township has expanded transportation services to Seniors and the Disabled living in the township. Amplified phones are made available free to those residents with hearing difficulties.
-
The Assessor’s office has assisted many Township homeowners to successfully appeal their property taxes. Information programs are held periodically to explain the process.
-
The Highway Commissioner has worked with neighboring villages to repair and improve roads in unincorporated Schaumburg Township. He has initiated the Clear Vision program for free winter car washes and worked cooperatively with the Village of Roselle to get traffic safety signs and additional turn lanes on Nerge Road. He has been instrumental in working to clean-up abandoned houses and property in unincorporated areas.
-
The Township Clerk has added a fast and friendly passport service for the convenience of township residents. He also conducted a Voter Registration & Passport Fair to register new voters and sign up resident’s services. To honor Schaumburg Township veterans, the Clerk initiated a Veteran’s Honor Roll. As Vice President of Townships of Cook County, Clerks Division, he works closely with David Orr’s Cook County Clerks office year round to establish seamless Election Day results.
Township government is the agency that is closest to the people, and is best able to help those in need in difficult economic times. |
